“But when you poured out your heart I didn’t waste it
‘Cause there’s nothing like your love to get me high”
– Chris Stapleton
Umm can we just talk about how fantastic allllll of that going on is??
This wedding was really exciting for me on many levels. I have known Anneke pretty much longer than anyone else I’m friends with. Our moms have been best friends since before we were born. Even though we have always lived in different states, I would say almost every summer of my childhood and teenager years, I would see her family. So, when she asked me to shoot her wedding there was no doubt it was a must. Then she told me it was going to be up in the mountains of Idaho near where she and her fiance live and I was even more excited. Despite the fact that I was born in Washington, and have spent tons of time traveling around the Pacific Northwest, I had never been to Idaho! And if you know me, you know I love a new adventure!
Getting to Idaho was kind of a nightmare. I arrived at the airport in Providence at 4:30am to find out my flight had been cancelled. A big snow storm was about to hit the area, but that actually wasn’t why. Still have no clue. Mind you, I was flying into Seattle and then driving 6 hours to Idaho so I needed an early flight. After a lot of stress, and a very nice and helpful Southwest employee (seriously guys – if you have never flown with them, treat yo’ self) I managed to get on standby and get on the next flight. I picked up my rental car, and my mom (yay!) and we were on our way. Tons of gorgeous snowy scenery through the mountains! I was driving, otherwise I would have a bunch of photos.
We made it to the cabin – can it be called a cabin if it has about 8 bedrooms? And got some rest before the next day – wedding day! I love weddings like theirs where it’s just their closest family and friends celebrating. There were about 25 people there, most family. There was a lot of time for me to capture candid moments of these important people to Anneke & Jacob throughout the morning while they got ready. It was a beautiful ceremony about an hour before sunset, we got some amazing snowy photos, and then the reception was at Hill’s Resort overlooking Priest Lake.
Anneke had this made as part of her gift to Jacob, the other side has the latitude & longitude of where they live
Anneke’s ring was vintage (and gorgeous!) which went perfectly with this stole which she wore, which was given to her by her grandmother.
If you are going to shoot portraits in the snow.. even the bride puts on snow boots lol
I loved how joyful these two were!
This location was just amazeballs. The lake, the snow, the mountains. YES PLEASE.
Jacob danced with his mom and his grandma, which was so sweet!
Anneke & Jacob, thank you SO much for letting me capture your day. It was so beautiful, and so much fun. You guys are such a wonderful couple and I’m so happy to see you both so happy!
