” She is the days I can’t get over, she is the nights that I call home endlessly. For you I’ll always wait”
– Green River Ordinance
Anne and Justin have been married for eight years, and you can tell in the level of comfort they have with each other. An in home lifestyle session can sometimes feel more intimate because people’s homes tell a lot about them, and their stories. This was no exception. It was nice to sit with these two and hear them reflect on things from how Justin proposed, to wedding day moments, to more recent things and how proud they are of one another. The two of them are so well matched for each other – a mix of calm and sweet and silly.
I decided to approach this session a little differently. Anne is a motherhood photographer (Anne Miller) and her images feel very personal and intimate so doing theirs in their home I felt was a good fit for her. Anne also loves and uses a lot of black and white imagery. I love black and whites myself, so we decided that the majority of their images would be delivered as black and whites. There is a timelessness that can result without seeing color in images. You strip away a lot of the external and distracting elements and focus on connection. Their West Hartford lifestyle session turned out so beautifully and I’m looking forward to seeing if other couples are interested in a monochromatic session as well.
Thank you so much to Anne and Justin to inviting me into their beautiful home, and allowing me to capture part of their love story 🙂
