“Oh, home, let me come home. Home is wherever I’m with you”
This photo session was a completely different experience than any other lifestyle session I’ve ever done. I’ve photographed many lifestyle sessions and they are one of my favorite types of sessions because people can truly be themselves. You feel more at ease in your own space which lets your relationship be as it is. Your home also says a lot about who you are.
This home, is a work in progress.
Catherine and Cameron are in the process of renovating this home, so when I got there there was only half a kitchen. The majority of their furniture wasn’t there because they were literally about to sleep in that home for the first time. Floors had lovingly (and painstakingly) been redone and the rest was a work in progress. I thought, what a fantastic opportunity to show two kinds of love story. First, the two wonderful people but second, the love of building your home together. Literally.
The fall was being beautiful Connecticut fall. It was cozy with some beautiful foliage out the window. I had breakfast with these two and then they gave me a tour of their lovely Connecticut home. I can’t wait to see what they do with it. But the two of them? So wonderful. Their relationship felt very grounded (and if you’ve ever done a home project with your partner you know that at times you feel like murdering each other) – playful yet deep. Honestly, I could have spent the whole day hanging out with them and working on their house with them – I too, love a home project.
I think this session is a wonderful example of what makes your home your home though – the love that fills it.
