“I want to be the wind that fills your sail, be the hand that lifts your veil”
-Keith Urban
I love Rhode Island. I love that I live just a short drive away from the border so visiting is simple. So when Jaime & Todd said they wanted to do a Watch Hill engagement session I was obviously looking forward to it. Watch Hill is an adorable little town technically in Westerly. And by adorable, I mean cute little shops and restaurants with New England charm on the water but also huge fancy mansions and some of the nicest boats I’ve ever seen. It’s beautiful though, watching the sunset right in the harbor of the yacht club. When I arrived there were several couples with chairs set up just looking out over the water, ready for sunset.
I can tell that Jaime and Todd have an easy-going relationship that is full of fun. Todd is a photographer as well, and Jaime was happy to pose for his camera in between our stops and me shooting them. Wedding planning is stressful, yet so close to their wedding they were both still relaxed and happy. After we walked around the town and the harbor we headed over to the lighthouse, which is where they got engaged. There was a gorgeous sunset on display too so we were able to catch a little of that as well.
Additionally, we decided that I would shoot their session on film only. I was both excited, and nervous. Film is beautiful and has a look that’s hard to describe but it’s different than digital. Waiting for their scans to come back felt like an eternity. I’m just getting their images back and their wedding is actually Saturday! I can’t wait to head back to Westerly with them for their special day!
