“I climbed across the mountain tops, swam all across the ocean blue.
I crossed all the lines and I broke all the rules, but baby I broke them all for you.”
– Brandi Carlile
So I often encourage couples to choose somewhere personal to them for their engagement session. If we go somewhere the two of you love, it will most likely put you in a relaxed and happy state. A lot of couples ask me for suggestions and I don’t mind helping them find cool spots. However, I also love when couples take me somewhere more private that I wouldn’t normally shoot at. When I first asked Mary-Kate about their e-session she told me she’d like to do it at her parents house. This was pretty fitting considering Mary-Kate and Sam are getting married at their house, which also used to be in her family before they bought it. I loved how personal they are making everything. That’s what your wedding is about. Telling YOUR love story. So I knew their Madison engagement session would already be off to a great start.
When I got to her parents house I could immediately tell why they wanted to shoot there. It was beautiful with the ocean on one side and a river with docks and some marshy areas on the opposite side. We strolled down to the beach and walked along the shore to the point right as the sky started getting really beautiful. Sam and Mary-Kate were very sweet and laid back together. You can tell their love comes easily, and it’s full of laughter and joy. I really can’t wait for their backyard wedding this October.
