Last Friday I returned home from a week-long vacation to Phoenix. Fellow New Englanders, let me tell you it’s exactly where you want to visit right now. They have completely skipped Spring out there and are experiencing summer (well, New England Summer – not Phoenix Summer which is about 110). It was 80-90 and sunny basically everyday I was there. And it was AWESOME. Then I came home to snow on the first day of spring. Mama Nature, it’s no longer funny.
As you may or may not know, I used to live in Phoenix so naturally I got to see a bunch of friends and family. I was able to spend my first two days there with one of my best friends who also may look familiar to you guys. Keryn and her husband Joe, who just celebrated their first wedding anniversary by the way – YAY :D, were one of my first official engagement sessions a few years ago. Before I moved Keryn and I used to have a ritual of going hiking together and then going to eat salads at our spot Sauce. You bet we did that, but this time it was a bit different. Exercise is part of Keryn’s job now (She’s a Beachbody coach) and so we turned it into a bit of a photo shoot as well. Yes, we were both working on vacation AND exercising. I know this sounds like absolute hell for some of you, but it was fun!
I decided it would be fun to do a little interview with Keryn, and showcase a fellow woman entrepreneur!
Keryn, how did you get started with Beachbody?
I actually started following my coach’s page about a year ago. I just saw her randomly show up in my newsfeed, it was a video of her working out with a very pregnant tummy! I followed her for about 5 months before I joined her team – she often posted about how she loved her shakes and her workouts and she posted invitations to join her groups. I really wanted to join but just didn’t have the money – plus I was stuck in a contract at my gym with personal training sessions. Then one day she offered a free 5 day clean eating group, so I immediately joined that! About two months later she made a post that she was going to host an accountability group for people who wanted to do Focus T25 – and I REALLY wanted to do that program! I seriously could not afford it. I had seen my coach post before how much she loved coaching and what a blessing it had been in her life, so I did some research to see what went into coaching and if it was a legitimate business venture. I found only positive things about it, and it sounded like exactly what I was looking for! So, I decided to finally reach out to join her group, and paid with a credit card promising myself and my husband that I would earn back that money in my first month as a coach, and I did!
What is the biggest change you have seen in yourself since starting this journey?
I think the biggest change I’ve had is within. I used to pray, research, ask around for a passion! I’ve known for a few years that I wanted to be an entrepreneur; I had more recently discovered that I wanted it to be in the field of health/fitness/nutrition, but I wasn’t skilled or trained in any of these areas. Once I got started with Beachbody I KNEW that I found my passion! That is so exciting to me that I have found something that I am happy to put all of my free time into – I feel a great sense of belonging.
What would you say is the best part of your job?
For me, the best part of being a Beachbody Coach is helping someone find life changing success. Obviously, the hard work is all them, but I am somewhat of a catalyst and their happiness helps mine grow.
What are your goals? Personally, and professionally.
My biggest goal is to be a full time Beachbody Coach and to have this career retire me from my current full time job. My husband and I would love to have children in the future, so being able to have such a flexible, work at home career would be ideal as a parent. I would also love to do some traveling! I need to visit some European countries.
These are some action shots of Keryn using the Beachbody on demand app, allowing you to workout ANYWHERE!
And finally, what advice would you give to other women entrepreneurs out there?
My advice to other women entrepreneurs is: don’t be afraid to fail because that’s how you learn; continue feeding your mind with personal development – don’t stop growing; and don’t be afraid of what other people might be thinking of what you’re doing, some people just don’t understand the fire burning within the entrepreneurs soul!
Thank you so much Keryn, and I can’t wait to see you conquer all your goals – I know you will! If you would like to talk with Keryn about the Beachbody program you can visit her here:
