“I want to rock your gypsy soul just like way back in the days of old. And together we will float into the mystic”
-Van Morrison
Nautical perfection is how I would describe Jaime & Todd’s Watch Hill wedding. Married in front of the marina at the Westerly Yacht Club, portraits in front of the sailboats in the Watch Hill harbor, and just all things nautical decorating the day. During getting ready I chatted with her mom about all the planning and work Jaime put into all the details. Jaime’s mom actually made all the boutonnieres, corsages and Jaime’s bouquet out of shells and starfish. All of them were stunning, and just a great way to bring in the nautical.
We had already walked around Watch Hill for Jaime & Todd’s engagement session so it was nice to photograph them in some of the same spots. However, we also decided to head out onto the dock where there is usually a huge fancy yacht or two. I told them a wedding dress is kind of a hall pass to go in areas where technically we probably shouldn’t be. We had been worried about harsh sunlight, but their day was soft clouds. I’m personally happy with cloudy though, as it makes for lovely portraits. Additionally, just as I did for their engagement, I shot a portion of their day on film.
I loved that both of their moms spoke at the ceremony, and their wedding party consisted of their siblings. All of Jaime & Todd’s family and friends in attendance were so happy for these two, also SO fun to watch on the dance floor. There was an equal mix of boisterous laughter and sentimental tears, which I think is the perfect combination for any wedding day.
These two did a very informal first look, but it was still so sweet to see how excited they were to see each other.
The boat was their archway, but they made this! So gorgeous!
Married!
Portraits on film, in the harbor. Count me in.
Jaime’s gorgeous shell bouquet on the left.
This was actually a very sweet moment between Todd’s mom and brother, (not a sad one) during Todd’s father’s toast.
Congrats Jaime & Todd! Thank you so much for letting me be a small part of your adventure.
And in keeping with your nautical theme, fair winds and following seas 🙂
