So I’ve decided that Sundays will be a series called Sunday selfie. It will be a personal blog showcasing something in my life that I love, or that’s going on, or I’m working on that’s not necessarily related to the world of photography in an effort to let you guys get to know the gal with camera a tad better.
So this week, I will start off with a website that I have been a little obsessed with lately. Houzz.com. This website is the JAM. I found it probably 6 months to a year ago, but I recently discovered they have an app.. so I’ve been spending far too much time on there dreaming of my perfect home.
If you haven’t been on the website before, it’s basically.. just pictures of houses and rooms and you can browse by style. My favorite is eclectic. I would say that is my design style, a little bit of everything and I don’t like everything to match in the sense that it’s a set. I like to build furniture pieces and match things together that may not even be the same style. I really get into this mode when Zack is deployed. Last deployment, his parents and I basically redid our house. We painted every room, I redid the master vanity, new lighting fixtures, new front deck, took down popcorn ceilings, new sofa, I built a SWEET coffee table, etc etc. Now he’s gone, and even though I have a photography business, a cupcake business, and a 9-5 job.. I apparently still need other things to do? I’m a crazy person I know.
So then when you are browsing, you can save the images into lookbooks. It’s kind of like pinterest for houses I suppose. Beware though, this website will make you dream big, and feel poor because there are some BEAUTIFUL homes on there.
Right now I’m dreaming of a new kitchen, and damn you houzz… you are giving me everything I need but the money to do it haha. However, I have decided to build a headboard for our bed, as we are upgrading from a queen to a king. I can’t wait to build it and show it to the world.
I leave you with this sunday’s #selfie – my coffee table I built, a selfie of my bedhead glory, and a screenshot of houzz.com
