“I’d climb a mountain if I had to, and risk my life so I could have you”
– Tracy Chapman
Julie and Ross’ Napa Tree Beach engagement session was supposed to happen a few weeks before it actually did. The universe kind of said no though, as when I was on my way to their session a car flipped over on a bridge on 95 and I was stuck in my car for over an hour. At the same time, their kitty went missing. They found their cat – thank goodness, and I was not condemned to a life of living like a walking dead character wandering a freeway of abandoned cars and despair (how I felt at the time). We rescheduled, and got a beautifully dark day on a nearly empty beach. It was breezy and cool but not cold with dark blue skies. Kind of my favorite kind of weather, so I guess the universe was giving us something better than we planned.
Julie and Ross had told me going into their session that they were pretty nervous. I think most couples think that they are the only ones who feel anxious/nervous when they are going into a session. MOST people are though, which is understandable. Most people aren’t used to essentially having their own paparazzi follow them around on a date. I’m a pretty cool paparazzo (I think that’s the term for just one?) though guys. I mean, I’m probably going to be just as awkward as you think you are -which my couples always say this but NEVER are! I’m going to help you look awesome and natural though. About eight seconds into their session though.. I was like yeah this will be easy. They were SO natural in front of the camera, I barely had to direct them. They were totally up for anything I suggested and we got some really great images of them. I can’t wait for their wedding next year which is going to be so cool and unique at a campground!
