“And while your heart beats in mine, it’s true, I can’t ever get enough of you”
-Darren Hayes
When Richard first emailed me the plan was for him to surprise Alden and I would be shooting his proposal. Now, I think most photographers love surprise proposal sessions. Honestly, I think most humans do. It’s really sweet and endearing to see someone ask the love of their life to spend together forever. And if it happens to be somewhere super beautiful, even better. However, after a few days Richard decided to propose at home. I think this shows a lot about their relationship as he knew what would be the best idea for his partner. So we kept everything the same but now they were just going to have a Harkness Memorial engagement session. Yay!
If you’ve never been to Harkness, it’s really super beautiful. There are mansions and gardens, open fields, and the ocean. You really can’t go wrong. Even in the winter, when the gardens are dead and the grass isn’t the greenest there is a beauty about the thorny vines and sea grass in the winter light. So we met about an hour before sunset and walked around the grounds and talked about their love. Richard chose this location because they are considering having their wedding at Harkness. I haven’t documented one there, but it’s not hard to imagine how stunning one would be though. It really was the perfectly matched location for their engagement. I loved walking around with them and seeing their quiet, and sweet love for one another.
I was so excited when I was finally able to capture a reflection shot!
So many congratulations and well wishes for these two and I hope wedding planning goes fantastically 🙂
