Late last summer my lovely friend Julia Jane asked me to come along and second shoot an Ocean House R.I wedding with her. I obviously said yes, because one I have so much fun working with her, but two it was an Ocean House wedding. I’m not a fancy person. I know how to dress up, and have manners but I’m much more comfortable in casual settings. The Ocean House is so gorgeous and I had driven by but never really had a reason to go. If you aren’t familiar, it’s this huge beautiful hotel right on the water in Watch Hill, RI.
When I pulled up and gave the valet my keys (yeah #fancy, you can’t even park yourself there) it was like a New England commercial. There was a family playing croquet on the lawn with sweaters tied around their necks. I didn’t think people actually did that. As I walked into the hotel I was greeted by the sound music being played by a pianist. I mean, pretty fancy stuff guys. As you can imagine, the wedding was gorgeous.
It was the most lovely day. There were some clouds but it made all the beautiful greenery and florals pop. The ocean looked so blue, and the pinks and corals of their wedding colors just accented everything. They even released doves during the ceremony! The reception was full of dancing and beautiful family moments. I’m so glad I was able to witness and document this day. Thank you Julia for asking me along!
I love first looks with this much joy!
Had to get Taylor’s house in the background.
I loved that they met each other half way and walked down the aisle together. It’s kind of a beautiful metaphor for a marriage.
Hello sparkles and twinkle lights!
