“Speak to me only with your eyes. It is to you I give this tune”
-Led Zeppelin
Ross & Julie’s Camp Hoffman wedding was seriously one of the most laid back weddings that wasn’t a gathering of about 20 people or less. It was incredibly fitting to both of their personalities, and group of family and friends. When I met these two for their engagement session session last year, I saw that they have a very personal type of love. From the outside it seems quiet, but you can tell that they have a very deep connection full of laughter. You can see it in how they look at each other, but I can definitely tell by how little I had to do in directing them. They fit together and naturally are just so sweet in each other’s company.
Camp Hoffman is a beautiful campground – think cabins like The Parent Trap style camp not KOA – in South Kingston Rhode Island. The whole camp was theirs, with many guests staying in cabins overnight. There was no cake, or cake cutting, no first dance, no parent dances, no bouquet or garter toss. You might be thinking, so.. what happened then? A whole lot of love and fun. The ceremony was set among the pine trees with the lake in the distance. Right outside the reception space was a fire pit, cornhole boards and other yard games. Fresh mussels and oysters for the guests during cocktail hour, and a clam bake dinner. It felt like both a fancy wedding and an intimate get together despite there being at least 150 guests. Julie had a gorgeous and UNIQUE gown with her something blue in the ruffle trim at the bottom. And I know you might be thinking no cake? But don’t worry.. they had Ben and Jerry’s come for a sundae bar. Yum.
More than anything, you could tell how happy everyone was to be there for these two, and how much their love meant to them. The day was so full of joy from the moment I arrived (I’m positive they were having fun FAR before I got there though) and until much after I left.
Married!
Julie & Ross, thank you so so much for trusting me with your day and inviting me to witness your love story. I wish you nothing but all the years of happiness and laughter.
