I’m pretty excited about this session. Since moving to Connecticut I have been wanting to shoot a session in the city. I love the look of photos taken in urban settings with the energy and hustle and bustle going on. It’s like life, there may be a lot happening but there are sweet stories everywhere if you just look for them. Anyways, we didn’t actually shoot this out in the streetsĀ but in a gorgeous park – Fort Tryon, within the city. It’s amazing how you can go from big buildings and apartments, and just turn the corner and here is this park with so many trees and gardens, and lovely views but you can!
Tyler is actually my cousin, so it was even more special to be able to shoot this because it’s family. I had never met her boyfriend Mike but now that I have I can say I’m a fan. The two of them are a great couple. Tyler is a writer for a blog called Killing the Breeze and Mike works with youth at Boys Town New York. I think they may be a NYC power couple in the making. I loved spending time with them exploring a little bit of their neighborhood and witnessing their cool dynamic, which I think is evident in their photos. We just kind of strolled through the park and deciding what was cool as we encountered it. We actually saw four groundhogs, which I had never seen a groundhog in my life (in person) until moving to Connecticut. We got scolded for taking a photo when we got to the Cloisters, so unfortunately we just had to move along because of a grumpy guard. We finished up in one of the tunnels to the subway near their apartment, which is currently covered in a commissioned graffiti piece. So cool!
Here are a few of my favorites:
Tyler and Mike, I had so much fun with you both and I can’t wait to see where your journey takes you!
